As a Montessori guide and parent, I know first-hand the importance of establishing strong routines, especially at the very beginning of the school year. The benefits are many, but simply put, routines can empower your child while cutting down on the power struggles that leave everyone frustrated. September is a vital time to establish the structures that will allow you and your child to thrive, which hopefully includes getting everyone where they need to be on time, happy and ready for the day!
I was recently listening to CHFI 98.1 on the way to school and heard an interesting segment were they interviewed Alyson Schafer, a Therapist, TV personality, columnist, spokesperson, educator and consultant. She spoke exactly about this topic and had some pertinent advice regarding how to realistically establish routines that work for your child by including your child in the process. If you’re interested, take a look at the article “How to Keep Your Kids Organized” that she wrote for the Huffington Post last year.
Enjoy and good luck!
