The Elementary classrooms at MJDS provide a carefully prepared environment to encourage independence, a sense of confidence, responsibility, and a desire to learn. Our environments provide students with the opportunity to follow their interests and reach their full potential. Students continue to learn in a multi-aged environment with the guide to assist them on their journey. With the use of Montessori materials, students are able to solidify concepts concretely before moving on to the abstract.
Knowledge can best be given where there is eagerness to learn, so this is the period when the seed of everything can be sown, the child's mind being like a fertile field, ready to receive what will germinate into culture… we see no limit to what must be offered to the child.
