Our curriculum has been carefully designed with the adolescent in mind. The Montessori curriculum for the adolescent years helps them to transition from being members of their Montessori community to being contributing members of society.
INDEPENDENCE AND SELF-RELIANCE
The Middle School at MJDS is a truly unique learning environment created for the adolescent student and supported by current developmental research. Recognizing the needs of the adolescent, the Middle School forms its own community within MJDS, fostering independence and self-reliance both individually and within the school community.
The adolescent must never be treated as a child, for that is a stage of life that he has surpassed. It is better to treat an adolescent as if he had greater value than he actually shows than as if he had less and let him feel that his merits and self-respect are disregarded.
