Our family of four (Mom- Vered, Dad- Erez, Twin girls Tamar and Omer) has recently moved to Toronto from Haifa, Israel. We love to watch movies, cook and bake together, and play outside as much as we can.
The Vered Family
Why did you choose MJDS?
We wanted a smooth-as-possible transition for our daughters, moving from an Israeli daycare, where they have spent the past two years and everybody knows them and speaks hebrew obviously.. we have heard about MJDS from some members of the Israeli community of physicians who lives in the city- they highly recommended MJDS, saying it is the best place they could’ve imagined for their children, so we have decided to apply:)
What do you love most about MJDS?
The staff, who embraced us as soon as we arrived here, and made us and our girls feel welcomed.
What is one word that best describes the school? Why?
Unique. It is very different then everything we have come to know about children’s education in our lives as school students ourselves and as parents to young kids.
In what ways have you seen your child/ren grow and develop as a result of their experience at MJDS?
My daughters have learned so much in the past three months! First of all, they understand English! And already started to speak a little bit with each other.. also, they have separated for the first time and each is in a different class, and got to know new friends and create relationships with other kids and adults around them.
They have become VERY interested in different aspects of Hebrew- Omer is interested in the sound of words and letters and Tamar is super into writing! And they are not even 4yo yet! Same happened with counting and numbers! They count everything. All day long!
Describe how a Montessori approach to education helps your child/ren learn
Honestly, I still have no idea what is it that you do, but it just works! Hopefully I’ll figure it out by the end of the school year :)
What would you say to another parent to encourage them to consider enrolling their child at MJDS?
That it is probably the best decision they can make, especially for young children. They become little people of the world- develop themselves and their relationships with other people and with everything that surrounds them in the best way possible.
